The Healing Way
What is healing? Curing only addresses the disease. Healing requires a whole body and being approach. Healing involves transforming the whole person, including the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of self. This presentation focuses on these four categories with concrete, empowering tips for engaging healing in each area. Jeannine’s major insights about healing are shared in this presentation.
Awakening to Life Through a Brain Tumor
Diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 24, Jeannine’s 10 plus year odyssey through diagnosis, brain surgery, a recurrence, and healing has been a journey of awakening. Jeannine’s story, including navigating the cancer care system, serving as her own advocate, transversing a number of crossroads between life and death, and trusting herself in the process has been one of intense self-discovery and liberation. This presentation focuses on Jeannine’s story highlighting her major insights about awakening into life.
Neglected Wellness Strategies Against Cancer
Offering a unique, empowering, and compelling compilation of evidence-based strategies against cancer, this presentation features 8 key recommendations for inviting physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing. Explanations of each area, interactive questions for self-exploration, books, and references to some research studies are provided. As always, Jeannine will share related stories from her own journey.
Cancer as an Opportunity for Personal and Planetary Transformation
Cancer, any other illness, malady, or disorder can be viewed as an invitation. In a world turned upside down, people affected by cancer can relate to their disease experience as a potential opportunity for constructive personal transformation. Contrasted with post-traumatic stress disorder, the individual can engage post traumatic growth to invigorate positive life changes from severe adversity. Research studies indicate that some patients and their loved ones experience positive life changes through cancer. Extreme life challenges have the potential to transform not just individuals, but also societies. This presentation will demonstrate how cancer can bring forth personal and planetary transformation.
Tending to More than Tumor
This presentation designed for doctors, other health care providers, and health care advocates focuses on ways in which the cancer care system can move toward more patient centered care encompassing the whole person. Too often, people with cancer are reduced to their disease and the individual becomes overlooked. Aspects of Jeannine’s journey are conveyed to illustrate the importance of self-advocacy and how to support patients with integrative care.
The Healing Way, Without Messy Detours
This presentation designed for any audience will inspire and empower listeners toward greater wellness. Jeannine’s healing way approach includes strategies for enhanced physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. While working in the U.S. Congress and en route to law school, Jeannine’s “detour” came in 1998 when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and again in 2004 when she was informed of a recurrence. Jeannine’s story of using her health challenge as a catalyst to find herself illustrates how people can awaken their hidden vitality without messy detours.
Alternative Cancer Therapies: Moving Toward Integrative Cancer Care
This presentation explains integrative cancer care, including how to evaluate “alternative” cancer practitioners. Jeannine conveys her experiences with three major treatment protocols, including “immunotherapy” in Germany, biological medicine in Switzerland, and work with Nicholas Gonzalez, MD in New York. Originally diagnosed in 1998, Jeannine was treated with awake brain surgery at the National Institutes of Health. The tumor recurred years later. Jeannine has pursued hundreds of alternative therapies.
Evaluating Alternative Medicine Practitioners
The multi-billion dollar field of alternative medicine presents consumers with endless options in a primarily unregulated field. This presentation focuses on the most important aspects to assess in these providers with questions for consumers to ask of themselves and practitioners.
Cancer as an Invitation for Spiritual Growth
Are we spirits in a physical body? Indeed, life is a spiritual journey. Our life experiences can be viewed as opportunities for our soul’s development. Perhaps there is no such thing as “bad luck.” Maybe nothing is personal. Then, everything is for spiritual growth.
The disease experience opens a window into the soul. Illness is an invitation to look deeply into self, cultivate new levels of knowledge, and understanding about what it is to be alive.
This talk focuses on the relationship between spirituality and health with anecdotes from Jeannine's journey and references to relevant research studies.
